I just boarded my flight from Seatac down to LAX. My phone is my only connection to the wired world for thenext several days, and after we take off I’m not planning on using it for anything other than good old-fashioned phone calls. We’ll soon see just how long that lasts!

That reminds me, I need to get a BlackBerry. My current phone is just too limiting. I want to do more than just take good old-fashioned phone calls.

Brandon talked me into buying the same phone he has, Sprint PPC-6700, and it’s an awesome phone for data purposes. I just got back from spending a week on the beach in San Diego and even though the cabin I stayed in didn’t have a phone or cabel I still had internet access thanks to my phone.

The phone interface itself is acceptible for finding directions or checking your mail but what I loved the best was that I was able to hook it up to my laptop via a USB and use it as a modem for near broadband speed browsing. I tried playing some youtube.com videos which was a bit painfull but everything else was acceptable. You can also connect to it via bluetooth or IR but what’s nice about using USB is that you’re laptop will re-charge the phone while you’re browsing the web. I don’t know what I did without it.
My only wish now is for a faster connection, better coverage data wise (get off I-5 and you’re screwed), and a better camera.
Make sure you get an unlimited data plan if you go with this phone because you’ll use the data feature more then you think.
