Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stood for peace, freedom and prosperity. He was against the idea of the government of this free nation seeking to police the world; he called it “arrogant.” He stood for freedom, for all, for each of us, as individuals. He wanted better for each of us.

The core of King’s message was freedom. Freedom should be for all people, all individuals.

MLK’s adherence to nonviolence is an example to us all. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. achieved great political successes by practicing non-violence, yet they themselves suffered physically at the hands of the state. Even civil disobedience can be patriotic.

We should not be caught in the snare of envy, but look to Christ as our ultimate model.

Someday we all will be free at last. It is when we each are free.
